9 Tips for Taking Care of Ecological Bioethanol Fireplaces
Share
Find out what precautions you should take when using your ecological fireplace.
In recent years, bioethanol fireplaces have been gaining popularity due to their advantages over traditional fireplaces, whether because they are convenient and clean to use, easy to maintain, do not require complicated installation or because they are environmentally friendly.
However, there are certain precautions to take during and after use to avoid incidents. Find out what precautions to take in the points indicated below:
1. Ensure oxygen supply
Bioethanol fireplaces, like all fires, consume oxygen, albeit at a small level. Depending on the size of the burner, this is equivalent to the consumption of candles. Therefore, it is advisable to keep the space at least slightly ventilated. It is important not to completely close off any spaces with the fireplace. “It does not produce carbon monoxide!”
2. Fill the tank
Bioethanol is a flammable product and, as such, requires extra care and precautions. We recommend using a liquid transfer pump to fill the bioethanol fireplace tank in a more practical and safe way.
3. Be careful not to overflow when filling the tank.
Never fill the tank beyond the maximum capacity level indicator. If it overflows, absorb the excess with kitchen paper to prevent the flame from spreading.
4. Never refuel with the flame on
Wait approximately 10 minutes after the flame goes out before refilling the tank (depending on the size of the burner).
5. Do not throw anything into the fireplace
Unlike a traditional fireplace, you cannot throw any type of waste into it. The only substance that can be added is bioethanol, only when there is no flame and only after a certain period of time.
6. Accessories
The accessories recommended for use in bioethanol fireplaces, such as logs and ceramic stones, are ideal for adding a realistic touch and helping to concentrate the heat. However, you must be careful when placing them; they should never be placed on top of the flame, only around it.
7. Extinguishing the flame
Never try to extinguish the fireplace by blowing on it or using water. It is recommended that you let the fire burn itself out. If you need to extinguish the fire sooner, you should use the appropriate flame extinguisher that comes with the fireplace.
8. Cleaning
Cleaning this type of fireplace is very simple. Wait for it to cool down, then turn off the flame and wipe it with a damp cloth and water. It is not advisable to use cleaning products, due to the chemicals.
9. Other Care
Use long fireplace matches to light the fire. Light from the side to avoid the flames. It is recommended that you do not leave flammable objects near the fireplace and that you take special care with children and animals. Always read the instruction manual.
Respect the environment!
Never pour fuel into water pipes or into nature.
